Cree Connects with SmartThings to Provide Intelligent Light in Home Automation
DURHAM, NC -- Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) announces the Connected Cree® LED Bulb’s compatibility with market leader in home automation, SmartThings, which is part of the Samsung Global Innovation Center. The news comes just four months after the Connected Cree LED Bulb’s inaugural launch and reinforces its position as the most compatible connected LED bulb on the market.
“Cree is committed to collaborating with other industry leaders to provide connected bulbs that deliver better light experiences by addressing the shortcomings of today’s lighting solutions,” said Betty Noonan, Cree chief marketing officer. “The Connected Cree LED Bulb is designed for compatibility with existing market-leading platforms, as well as those yet to come, so consumers can feel confident that their investments are protected and designed to work with new smart hubs well into the future.”
The Connected Cree LED Bulb is the first smart LED bulb to deliver the combination of the lighting experience customers expect from Cree with industry-leading simplicity, multi-platform compatibility and affordability. Fully dimmable and controllable through the SmartThings app, the 60-watt replacement Connected Cree LED Bulb consumes 81 percent less energy and has a rated lifetime of 25,000 hours, backed by a three-year warranty. The bulb is available at The Home Depot® for just $14.97.
“Our goal at SmartThings continues to be to maximize flexibility and freedom of choice so that users can connect and control all of their favorite devices through one simple interface and open system,” said Justin Wong, vice president of business development at SmartThings. “As one of the most affordable connected light bulbs on the market, Cree is undoubtedly a top choice and we’re excited to deliver compatibility with our system for an improved automated lighting and overall smart home experience.”
Just like the Cree LED Bulb, the Connected Cree LED Bulb emits a warm, omnidirectional light thanks to its 4Flow™ Filament Design. This innovation creates a compact, optically balanced light source inside a durable, shatter-proof housing that delivers 815 lumens with a soft white, 2700K color temperature.
The Connected Cree LED Bulb is available now online and in The Home Depot. SmartThings connectivity is available now.
